Chapters 5, 6 & 7

In these chapters, the farmers start madly drying to dig Mr Fox and his family out of their burrow. They use great big machines and start wrecking the hillside. All the village people come to see what is going on and laugh at them.
Why do you think the Farmers actions are not very sensible?
What else could they do to try and catch Mr Fox?
If you were one of the farmers, what would your plan be?

On page 21, it says 'But Mr Fox would not have been so cocky...' What does this mean?
